Tip #8: Invest in Printed Return Envelopes

One of the most frustrating things about running a business is not being able to control your finances - when you get paid. And that’s a really important part of business.

My advice? Make it easy for your customers and clients to pay you! When you send invoices or bills, send a return envelope, as well.

At our office, we’ve invested in printed return envelopes. They are more simple versions of our regular envelopes, which are printed on linen with a touch of color. The printed return envelopes are printed on regular ol’ number 10 paper envelopes with the logo screened in black, white and gray. The return envelopes have our address printed in bold on the front. The really important part? A bold square where the stamp should be - a reminder that the envelopes are not pre-stamped!

In addition to billing, we use these envelopes whenever we need anything returned from a client or a vendor. It saves a few moments - no need to print out new ones!

Great idea Kelly. I’m much more likely to respond promptly if an envelope is enclosed. If I have to hunt up an envelope, I’ll stick it aside and think that I’ll get to it later - which may or may not happen!
Even so, I wouldn’t have thought of this investment for my own business. Probably wouldn’t hurt to include my blog address as well as additional offline advertising!
