A Place for Everything and Everything in Its Place

A Place for Everything
Post written by Ann Espo
This old adage is particularly true when it comes to keeping your home office organized. For many of us, our home office is where we do business, where we manage household paperwork, and even where we entertain our kids – often in a space that wasn’t designed as an office at all. Here are three ways to keep chaos at bay:
Determine what you really need to have on your desk. I did this by taking everything off and then seeing what I consistently reached for. Those are the things I now have in or on my desk.
Store things appropriately. Fishing around for post-its or digging out slouchy file folders is annoying and inefficient; choose the right containers to make retrieving the things you need easy.
Clear your desk at the end of the day. The “biggie”: if you do nothing else, putting away your files, notes, pens, calendar, etc. when you’ve finished working will give you a big lift the next morning – guaranteed!
And don’t forget to add something to your office that makes you happy: artwork, a favorite photograph or a healthy plant will help you stay relaxed and focused.
Ann Espo’s blog, One Bag Nation, was inspired by her quest for a more organized and orderly life - and a desire to offer an alternative to organizing books and blogs written by the “naturally organized”. By day Ann is wife, mother, cat herder and content writer for www.chefshop.com, and occasionally blogs at mydoubleoven.blogspot.com.
How do you find a place for everything? Or is that goal a distant dream?

“How do you find a place for everything? Or is that goal a distant dream?” well, I’m afraid I’m a “naturally organized” person so I don ‘t really know HOW I do it - but it happens. :)
“And don’t forget to add something to your office that makes you happy: artwork, a favorite photograph or a healthy plant will help you stay relaxed and focused.” SO TRUE. Really important to add that personal touch.
