Staying Organized Midst Computer Crash

Staying Organized Midst Computer Crash

It appears I can’t resurrect my laptop, so I’m continuing to write on hubby’s desktop.  Only I don’t have the same capabilities as on my laptop.  (I’m still trying to figure out how to save photos to his computer and then transpose them to my posts.)  Also, I have to juggle computer time with him since he uses his desktop for a home based Internet business, too.
So…how does one stay organized midst a computer crash, especially when a new computer isn’t in the budget right now?  Fortunately, I do have access to a computer.

I must get up early (6 AM …read more

Tackling Small Tasks When You Spy Them

Tackling Small Tasks When You Spy Them

Instead of waiting until you have time to complete an entire task, tackle small ones when you see them.  They may not seem like much, but they’re one less item on your “to do” list.

File mail as it comes in and toss out junk.
File even one piece that accumulates on your desk; for instance, my husband just opened his mail and handed me an insurance paper.  Instead of leaving it on my desk, I’ll stick it in the correct file.
Haul a box/file/bag to the next room when you head in that direction.
Clear a counter
Take meal dishes to the sink when …read more

Back on Track with Organizing “by necessity”

Back on Track with Organizing “by necessity”

We’re back on track with organizing and back to our various jobs.  The refrigerator is running again, is spic and span clean, and everything sorted and put back.  That’s one way to organize our two-family refrigerator…of necessity.
Do other things get organized in your life…by necessity?  You put it off and put it off until there is no option.  Or you may be forced to change course a bit, but find it’s in a good direction.
Look at challenges as ways to organize, change your plans, declutter, or head in a new and great direction.  I’m not sure the refrigerator set us …read more

When to Organize Something New into Your Schedule & Business

When to Organize Something New into Your Schedule & Business

How do you decide whether to add something new into your business or schedule?  Are you going off on a tangent, or will you add a new direction that contributes to productivity and profitability?  Do I send up a trial balloon?
It seems to me that adding art to my writing is called for at this time.  As I’ve organized my files, sorted through boxes of stored “stuff,” and tried to get more productive with my time, I’ve come across art work from years ago.  Currently I’m adding art to a picture book; I’ve reproduced some of my paintings as postcards for …read more

Getting Back to My 20 Minutes of Organization

Getting Back to My 20 Minutes of Organization

Getting back to my 20 minutes per day of organization was more difficult than I anticipated after being away from home at a business conference for four days.  When I did return home, I had a great deal of writing to catch up on and deadlines to meet.  I’d had four days off from my outside-the-home job, so was on a busy schedule there.
I sort of puttered at my organizing, but I’d broken the flow.  However, instead of simply letting everything fall by the wayside, like I have in the past, when I got distracted, I’m determined to get back into the act.  …read more

Continually Thinking of Organization

Continually Thinking of Organization

Once I set myself on the 20 Minutes per day plan to organization, I find myself doing something before I go to bed if I’ve had a busy day and haven’t gotten to my quota.  It’s something like a fear of falling off the cliff if I don’t keep the clutter at bay.
Maybe that’s a reason for sticking with it.  This becomes a habit, a mindset, so that you’re continually thinking about keeping the disorganization out of your life.
I found, as I awoke the other morning, an idea popped into my mind about a place to store my accumulation of family …read more

Merry Christmas from My Organized Biz

Wishing you and yours a Merry Christmas. Whether or not you celebrate the holiday, we hope you get some time to spend with those you love. Enjoy!

Apologies…

Apologies…

My sincerest apologies for leaving you hanging like that. I’ve had some things get in the way. Not so great time management, eh?
We all fall off the wagon once in a while, right? It doesn’t mean you should quit. It means you need to re-evaluate and start over. Or start where you left off. Or try an entirely new tack.
I will try my best to get back to a regular posting schedule. If there’s something that’s been bothering you, or some topic you’d like to see me cover, please let me know.
I still have an office makeover to post soon, …read more

It’s time for NaBloPoMo

It’s time for NaBloPoMo

A year (or two) ago, Mrs. Kennedy (Fussy) started National Blog Posting Month, or NaBloPoMo. It was inspired by National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), in which participants write a 50,000 word novel in a month – November, to be exact. For NaBloPoMo, participants commit to blogging every day during November.
It’s an exercise in writing, to get us to write every day. So I will try write something every day for you. Some posts may be longer than others. Some will be short references to cool things that I’ve found. I hope you’ll join me!

Yes, Virginia, there are still people on dialup

Yes, Virginia, there are still people on dialup

I am so spoiled. Where we live, we have a cable modem. It’s easy to take that nice, fast connection for granted.
Until I go see my parents. I won’t say they live out in the middle of nowhere, but both the cable company and phone company refuse to do anything out there except basic phone service. Like, you get a dial tone and that’s it. Even though the fiber optic cable is just right outside their door (not enough of a population – there are probably more deer than people).
So that means they have dialup service. Yes, remember when you …read more
