A Handy Rotating Desk Organizer

A Handy Rotating Desk Organizer

I saw another handy desk organizer today when I substitute taught in another teacher’s class.  On the table where she gave individual and small group reading instruction, was a four sided organizer, with each side about 18 x 18-inches.  In the middle was a well for storing notebooks, books, hanging folders, etc.  Beside each square side panel were holders for pencils, markers, highlighters and more.
This organizer rotated on a sort of “lazy Susan” base.  The teacher had each of the four sides organized for each of her four reading groups.  Everything was so well grouped that I had no trouble finding the materials …read more

Various Desk Organizers

Various Desk Organizers

Now that I’m writing this blog, I’m always on the lookout for items that will help us be more organized and to work more efficiently, productively and profitably.  If we can save time by being organized, then we’re on the way to better time management and profitably.
The other day, when I was substitute teaching, I noticed some organizer items on the teacher’s work table and desk that looked very helpful.  On her semi-circular table, where she worked with small reading groups, was a vertical pencil/pen holder with compartments for the various items if she wanted to separate them by categories and …read more

Organized Phone Stand for Time Management

Organized Phone Stand for Time Management

As I was glancing through an office supply catalog, I came across an interesting telephone stand for a desk phone.  The telephone sat on the top.  Under this was a space to store the phone book.  There was a pocket on the right side for storing pens, pencils and small note pads.
It seems so compact and handy and would keep everything regarding the phone and messages at your fingertips and organized.  Saves you time searching for the phone book and materials for taking messages.
If you have a phone on the wall, you’ll need to find some other compact method for …read more

Using Upright Wire Files for Organizing

Using Upright Wire Files for Organizing

I noticed a filing system on a teacher’s desk that looked as though it would be particularly helpful and neat.  These were upright wire organizers into which she had tucked manila folders with information for her various classes.  They seemed so handy and didn’t clutter her desk.  Yet the folders were at her fingertips.
As I browsed through an office supply catalog, I saw these in various sizes. (Hers held about a dozen folders.)  Also some were combined with horizontal boxes.  Then there were upright plastic and metal sorters of similar style that held folders.
I’ve used the horizontal files, but find …read more

Are You a Sticky Note Freak?

Are You a Sticky Note Freak?

Since the invention of sticky notes, I’ve discovered many uses for them and love to find all types and colors.  I consider that they help me keep organized.  Some people may think I make too frequent use of a good thing!
I like to use them in the little notebooks for organizing my blog writing.  I list the posts I’ve published, then use a sticky note on the page to jot down ideas for future posts.  As I use the ideas, I cross them off.
I have an outside-the-home job, and work different hours and days each week.  So I jot my schedule …read more
