How to nap

Napping

Do you take naps? Did you know that naps can actually help your productivity?

The Boston Globe has a great graphic about napping and the best way to do it. It gives you suggestions on where to nap, when to nap, and the best length of your nap.

How in the world can a nap keep you organized? When your mind is clear, you are better able to focus. Better focus leads to getting things done, and doing them right.

It sure explains a lot about why I sometimes feel so sluggish after a nap, instead of refreshed. I’m waking up at the wrong point of the nap! Go take a look and let me know what you think. Do you take naps? Are they a guilty pleasure or an important part of being able to function?

Nap really helps for productivity. I usually take a nap after my lunch for 30 mins.

I’ve been known to do that, too. I especially did that when I was pregnant, when I needed all the extra sleep I could get, just to make it through the afternoons.

It is time for America to take a nap. We the common American people, have carried the world on our shoulders long enough! We paid for Iraq with our labor and our children, but we didn’t order it up, the upper crust of the uber-class needed it, and we got nothing, not even cheap oil! We built and paid for the richest economy in the world, but what did we get for it? Meager wages and a conditional future for our children, not even Medicare for our poor, and schools that are the laughing-stock of the world! Most of our basic working-folk jobs have been exported along with the patented ideas of our sons and daughters that made them work! We have paid for huge road-tanks in fear of our neighbor’s road-tank – or so the ads go, bigger is safer right? so we pay at the pump for this foolish notion instead of banning SUV’s for safety’s sake! Time to take a nap folks! We pay at the pump because the business boys in charge won’t let us have clean Eurodiesels, or the fuel they burn at a fair price even if they are 30% more efficient! Why? The gas boys are the same bunch of bastards on the board of directors of the car companies that’s why folks! Time to take a nap! Let them find someone else to screw, we are simply screwed out! Time to take a nap Folks, time to take a nap!

I take naps when I’m working from home, sometimes a bit too often :)
It’s fine for me not to take a nap when I’m going to bed at the same time each day.

@Uncle B – while I appreciate you taking the time to comment, I’m not sure how it pertains to this topic. Thanks for stopping by.

@guruz – the problem with working for yourself sometimes IS the ability to take a nap whenever you feel like it. ;)
