In praise of a door (on your office)

I’ve been known to extol the virtues of an office with a door – especially for home businesses. It’s convenient. Messy inside? Close the door. No one will see in. Need quiet? Need to just be left alone? Close it. Problem solved.

The other benefit is that it really allows the office to represent the place where business happens. It’s turf. That’s why I’m so tickled that Anne Wayman at The Golden Pencil has finally arrived: she has a door.

Not only does she have a door, but a whole room to devote to her work. It’s a powerful choice that can have a great impact on her productivity. I’ll be interested to see how things go for her business in the near future.

Here’s Anne’s post about her door and new office. And I’d love to hear from you – do you have a door for your office? How does it work for you and how do you like it?

Hey Jen, just signed and faxed a new contract… one I’d forgotten was a possibility while I was moving… could it be the door? Maybe.

Glad it’s okay to have a mess… I’m shy a book case and maybe even some sort of table to sort on… the desk thing is working well – http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/60111123 – which I got cause it adjusts to let me stand and work.

    Hugs
