Hmmm, I can picture myself whacking off the legs of my desk and ending up with a wobbly desk, lol. I might need your “measuring trick” Jennifer. Thank you also Melissa for the shredding suggestion. This has been a perpetual problem for me. Maybe someone should go into the shredding business for teeny tiny offices like they have for large businesses.

I absolutely agree, Melissa. It sounds like your shredding system works well for you – and I’ll bet you do it on a regular basis (that makes a big difference).

The whole idea is to set up systems that prevent piles. If the mail has a place to go (to-shred pile, recycling, etc.), it doesn’t accumulate – plain an’ simple.

I have a suggestion about the pile on the floor. Why not handle the mail as it comes in and place anything that needs to be shredded either immediately into the shredder OR into a shredder box (small wastebasket?) for handling later.

I do the shredder box, which can be seen in my makeover from a couple of weeks back. Due to the confidential nature of some of my work, I sometimes shred large amounts of paper at a time. The shredder box allows me to set aside a bit of time early in the day to do my shredding, rather than have piles of paper around.
