I like your point about people being true to themselves. When my client starts saying that her desk "shouldn't be this way," I stop her. I ask where that idea came from: her mom, her husband, someone on TV? People make so much extra work (and pain) for themselves when they think things should be a certain way instead of letting them be the way that's right for them. I'm not saying it's easy to stop comparing yourself to others, but it sure does pay off.

Hi, Brandie!
I like your point about people being true to themselves. It's sad that we assume other people have their lives perfectly together, including those we look up to. I'm not sure if it's a western culture thing or not, but it sure can stop us dead in our tracks with intimidation. Be real and know that we all are struggling in areas we don't talk about. Btw, my garage could use some help, I think I'm going to go tidy it up a bit right now. ;)

Hi Ann,
Isn’t that the truth! Even if they all do, you just have to start somewhere and start small - I'm working on my (horrible) basement for just 5 minutes a day. It's slow, but steady improvement.

I think those of us who struggle with feeling disorganized and frazzled assume that everyone else has it all together – perfectly.

Even if they all do, you just have to start somewhere and start small – I’m working on my (horrible) basement for just 5 minutes a day.
