Should it stay or should it go now?

Sometimes we have trouble deciding what to do with paper. Should I file it? Keep it? Throw it away?

If you’re worried that you’ll get rid of something that can be important later, you can become paralyzed from fear of making the wrong decision. Add in a bunch of papers in that “what do I do with this?” category and suddenly your desk is awash in unsorted stacks.

And all of those papers are really just decisions waiting to be made. So what do you do? Don’t bother with perfection. Just think of a general topic or category and file under that. You can always adjust later if you find a better solution. Nothing has to be set in stone.

Remember, perfection is the enemy of “good enough.” And many times in organizing, good enough will do.
