Ah, the dreaded filing task! UGH! We tend to make this the very last item on our “to do” list, don’t we? That’s mainly because we haven’t created proper homes for it. Our battle with paper can end with the creation of a good system. It doesn’t matter which paper …read more

Have you ever felt like you could never “be organized”? An audience member talked with me about this after a presentation recently. She said, “I just don’t think I can BE organized.” I was saddened by her comment, because she clearly felt a great deal of shame about it. Unfortunately, society has a …read more

Monday Roundup – 5 memorial ideas

(www.myorganizedbiz.com) – In honor of Memorial Day, today’s roundup is memory- and brain-themed.
One of my favorite resources for people who say “I must have ADD, I can’t remember where I put my last nerve” is a book called CrazyBusy and its accompanying newsletter (free). I subscribe and I love it.
Lief Hansen challenges his brain by spending the day writing with his non-dominant hand – and then blogs about it.
Want to know how to get inspired to start organizing? Remember where you came from. In this article I wrote, you’ll learn how to organize by remembering what’s really important.

Where the Wednesday Makeover?

Where the Wednesday Makeover?

(www.myorganizedbiz.com) – Every Wednesday, I feature a real-live business owner who has a struggle with their office. Honestly, we all have them and there’s no shame in admitting it.
The fact is, life is full. There’s always more to do that you can actually accomlish, so those little niggles in your office are mostly ignored until they get out of control. That’s just how life is.
It’s really helpful to get ideas on what to do with this space, considering it’s the place from which you generate your livelihood.

Makeover Wednesday – Ann’s ensuite office

Makeover Wednesday – Ann’s ensuite office

Ann has a terrific blog about home organizing and she embodies my belief that organizing is a process. I’m a huge fan.
Ann took me up on my offer to do a Makeover Wednesday about her workspace. Yay! Here is a picture of Ann’s office.

This lovely space is located at the end of her bedroom, which Ann says she can see while she’s in bed.
Here’s what else she said:
I want to find a balance between tidy, neat and organized (don’t want to look at piles from my bed!) but not too sterile. I won’t have a proper desk with …read more
