Wooden Boxes for Organizing

Some people are very creative in the organizational tools for their desks.  In previous posts, I’ve mentioned different types of organizers I’ve found on teachers’ desks when I’ve been substitute teaching.
Today I discovered a simple wooden box.  It apparently originally was a small desk drawer with wooden pull.  It had dovetailed corners and wear marks.
However, it worked well on the teacher’s old wooden desk.  (Some teachers at this school seem to prefer the big old oak desks with a modern computer desk beside it.)

A Handy Rotating Desk Organizer

I saw another handy desk organizer today when I substitute taught in another teacher’s class.  On the table where she gave individual and small group reading instruction, was a four sided organizer, with each side about 18 x 18-inches.  In the middle was a well for storing notebooks, books, hanging folders, etc.  Beside each square side panel were holders for pencils, markers, highlighters and more.

Organizing for Office Comfort

After my notebook computer crashed, I began using my husband’s desktop and sitting in his office chair.  I noticed, after several days, that my lower back began to ache.  (I’d broken it in an accident several years ago, but hardly have any trouble with it.)  Finally the ache grew into pain, so I hauled out my back brace.
“What’s causing this?” I wondered.  Then I realized when I sat in various positions the discomfort was worse than in others.  “Is it Jim’s chair?”
