There are simple ways you can get organized which in turn, can help increase your bottom line.

Here are 5 steps to increase your sales:

1. Keep a calendar. Write down all your appointments, tasks and important dates on one calendar which will include family and business activities. When all of these things are in one place, it can help you stay on track and more focused.

2. Don’t let the mail pile up. Be vigilant at opening your mail on a daily basis. You do not want to miss important documents or have to waste your time later in the week opening a heaping pile of mail. When you check your mail, immediately shred the junk mail, and file all the rest.

3. Create a schedule for yourself. Now I know that not everyone says they do well in a structured wok environment. But I have seen people who have said this for years set themselves up a small schedule and they have raved about how their business has improved and their sales being one of them. The schedule can be very simple like when you will check email, make phone calls, work on big projects, etc. When you wake up everyday and go into your office knowing exactly what you need to do, your business will improve.

4. Make lists. Keep a running list of things you need to get down. I like to break down my to-dos by importance. I have one column for things that need to get done eventually and things that need to get done this week. It helps keep me on track and also not let big things fall through the cracks.

5. Don’t forget about you. Always remember to take care of yourself. In order to succeed in your business, you need to be well rested and healthy. You also need to set aside time for fun and relaxation. Working yourself to the bone constantly is not good for anyone.

Post from: My Organized Biz

Would You Win the Messiest Office Contest?

Declutter

Storage

office-organizing-tips

Elaine Betts of Let’s Get Organised, a professional organization company, came up with the idea the messiest office contest. I always have and probably always will. Sure, I have my spontaneous moments and enjoy that aspect of life too, but when things are structured in my business world, I am more successful. That’s why My Organized Biz is getting organized!

What do I mean by that? Well, over at my blog Declutter It!, which is all about organizing the home, I created theme days quite awhile ago. I assigned Monday through Friday a particular topic for me to blog about and I loved it. It helped me tremendously with posts ideas and making sure I gave my readers a variety of topics to read about.

So, I’ve decided to that with this blog also. Most of the themes are the same as my other blog, but they will obviously be geared towards you, the business owner, and making sure that you keep your business organized for success. Without further ado, here are the topics:

Motivate Me Mondays - I will issue a challenge every Monday. It will usually be fairly simple like cleaning out that desk drawer that has been annoying you or organizing your computer files. It will always be something that can be done within that week.

Tick Tock Tuesdays – Tuesdays are all about time management and taming that clock.

Where’s My Desk Wednesday - I think this one is self-explanatory. I’ll share tips and tricks with you about getting your desk organized – from filing, to organizing office supplies.

The Bottom Line Thursday – I had problems coming up with a theme for Thursday and may end up changing it at some point, but for now, Thursdays are all about sales and your bottom line. I’ll cover organizing your finances and and help you see if you are getting the most out of your bottom line.

Find It Friday – Fridays are about giving every item a home. We’ll talk about storage and systems that will keep you from spending wasted time looking for things.

Saturdays – Saturdays are my free day to either take the day off, or write about whatever I want to. This is me being spontaneous.

Sweep Through Sunday – Sundays are my day to sweep through the business channel and other b5media blogs and share with you topics that other bloggers have written about that I feel you will benefit from. We have an amazing group of bloggers here that have a lot to share and I want to make sure you benefit.

There you go! I hope that you will enjoy this schedule and that this will help you have a more organized business, which will then result in more productivity, more time for yourself and your family and more success in your endeavors.

Post from: My Organized Biz

Arranging Your Office Furniture and Filing Made Easy

Declutter

office-organizing-tips

organizing-the-office

setting-up-a-filing-system

Let’s go over the task of arranging your office furniture so it makes filing much easier. It’s best to have a small filing cabinet that you store everyday files in, within arms reach from your desk. If you are constantly having to get up to file your papers, 9 times out of 10 you will stack it on your desk to “file later”. If you are constantly having to get up to file your papers, 9 times out of 10 you will stack it on your desk to “file later”.

If you have a large number of papers that you file on a daily basis, put your filing cabinets on the same side of the room as your desk. If all you had to do to file something, was to swing your chair around and roll on over to the cabinet, those papers have a much better chance of making it to their designated places. And in the end…your desktop has a much better chance of staying clear.

Now about categories. It is so important that you name your categories the right way. If you have too many or ones that later don’t make sense, then filing will become difficult and a pain. Then what happens? Those papers don’t get filed!

Here are some tips from Julie Morgenstern on naming files:

Keep titles simple and categories broad. The fewer place to look for things the better.

Title files based on retrieval, not storage. Select files based on where you would look for something if you needed it again.

Use titles to group similar files. A sales section can have separate files such as domestic, international.

Use titles that incite you to action. Instead of “invoices to write” use “create invoice”.

Use titles that soeak to your soul. Some examples, instead of “financial planning” make it “wealth” or instead of “articles of interest” make it “fascinating people”.

Next, she says that when you are all done you need to reevaluate your files. Make sure they make sense to you. Also make sure the files are not too thick, because most likely that means your title is too broad and you have too many categories.

Most of all, keep your system as simple as possible.

Post from: My Organized Biz

Tip of the Day #4 – Use One Calendar

Productivity

Time Management

business-calendar

family-calendar

office-organizing-tips

Use one calendar.
