Top 10 things to do every day

March 2, 2008 by Jennifer Hofmann

(www.myorganizedbiz.com) – Recently, I happened on an article on Martha Stewart’s site about what kinds of things to do every day that make life easier.

So, my variation on this theme is to share a list of things that, if business owners did them every day, work and life would be less chaotic and more enjoyable.

10. Check your appointment calendar the night before.

9. Neaten your space at the end of the day.

8. Empty your email box before you leave.

7. Sort and process your mail after you retrieve it.

6. Connect with an ally and supporter who gives you ideas and really listens.

5. Look at your financial accounts to see what’s coming in and going out.

4. Stop at midday and eat a real lunch away from your desk.

3. Put completed work and assorted items into their respective files.

2. Decide what tasks you want to do before you begin your day.

1. Do a non-work activity that is emotionally and spiritually – every day.

What do you do everyday that helps you create focus and inspiration?

I like this because it’s not smart-assed, it reflects an uncomplicated impulse to be helpful. I like funny, cynical things, too, but there are so many more of those than there are of just straight practical items of advice given for no reason except … “Hey, maybe this would be helpful to someone…” (The email address I used is fake. Sorry.)

No worries – you are welcome to be anonymous when you feel you need to. Thanks for stopping by.
